Candidate:
Imogen Marshall, PhD, Senior Product Manager at Octopus Legacy
Candidate’s impact:
Since joining, Imogen has conducted customer focus groups to improve the online products, scoped and A/B tested the effectiveness of new features and successfully implemented a company-wide product process.
The brief:
Octopus Legacy, a privately-owned deathtech startup based in the UK, needed a highly capable Product Manager to work directly with the Founder on strategy, the product roadmap and creating organised and structured product systems.
The ideal candidate would be data-driven and user-centric, but also emotionally compassionate and sensitive due to the nature of the company’s mission of making death a more approachable subject.
The result:
Scene found Imogen, the Product Manager at software startup OpenPlay, where she was the sole Product Manager leading the development of an app from ideation through to gaining 80k+ users across 17 clients. During her PhD in Neuroscience, Imogen gained a passion for understanding human behaviour, so Octopus Legacy’s mission resonated with her. Not only does she have valuable startup experience, but she is also adept at applying insights to enhance the user experience of technical products.

Candidate:
Axel Schygiol, Sales Development Representative at Risk Ledger
Candidate’s impact:
Axel has had a strong start, booking eight demos in his first month, as well as consistently exceeding his sales accepted opportunity (SAO) targets over the following months.
The brief:
Risk Ledger, a Series A security startup, was seeking an ambitious SDR to play a pivotal role in the company’s growth strategy by breaking into new markets and acquiring new customers.
The ideal candidate would be able to hit the ground running and quickly understand the customer’s needs and challenges. Risk Ledger’s preference was for someone with a security background who could understand the complex nature of the product, educate prospects about the company, articulate its value proposition and proactively engage the wider team to drive product improvements.
The result:
Scene found Axel, an experienced Business Development Manager at Ormis, a startup where he where he worked on behalf of six cybersecurity firms prospecting CISOs, SOC managers, cloud security directors and network security professionals. He has a track record of consistently exceeding his monthly target and creating new opportunities with companies such as PWC, Deloitte and Barclays. The recruitment process, from Scene sharing Axel’s profile with Risk Ledger to the offer being accepted, took only three weeks.

Candidate:
Jake Lee, Staff Android Engineer at Seatfrog
Candidate’s impact:
In a very short amount of time, Jake has stepped up Seatfrog’s approach to Android significantly, spearheading positive change and quickly solving the most pressing issues.
The brief:
Seatfrog, a Series B traveltech startup, was looking for an experienced Staff Android Engineer who would be able to transform the company’s existing Android application, design and develop new features and improve the usability of the Android app.
The result:
Scene found Jake, Engineering Manager at Photobox, where he managed the iOS & Android team working on the company’s app. He had just been through a similar process with Photobox, helping grow Android app sales +120% YoY, while improving usability and feature parity with its iOS app.
Having worked at both startups and larger technology companies, Jake is well-versed in transforming Android applications and operating in a growing startup. He is able to bring best practice from previous companies to Seatfrog, which aligns with the company’s needs.
