What is a candidate Net Promoter Score (NPS)?
28 September 2023
Candidate NPS is used to evaluate the candidate experience with an organisation during the application and recruitment process. The Net Promoter Score metric was first introduced as a way for companies to measure customer loyalty and get feedback on customer experience.
Why measure candidate NPS?
We know that the process of finding a new job can be complicated and stressful. It often involves endlessly scrolling through job boards or chasing recruiters and companies for updates.
That’s why we do things differently at Scene. Your candidate experience is at the core of everything we do — so much so that our talent team’s bonus is tied to our candidate NPS.
We believe it’s crucial to create a constant feedback loop so that we can improve the experience for every candidate we work with. Because if you’re not happy, we’re not happy.
How to measure candidate NPS
We use a platform called Starred to measure our NPS from all the candidates we put forward for roles, regardless of whether they are successful or not. To calculate the score, candidates are sent a short feedback survey after the job application process is complete.
They are asked on a scale of 1 to 10 how likely they are to recommend Scene to a friend or colleague based on their experience with us:
– Candidates that rate us 9 or 10 are considered “promoters.”
– Candidates that rate us between 1 or 6 are considered “detractors.”
– Candidates that rate us 7 or 8 are considered “passive.”
The final score is a number between -100 to 100 and is calculated as the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors. A positive Net Promoter Score means your promoters outnumber your detractors.
So far in 2023, Scene’s NPS is 87 from candidates we’ve successfully placed and 67 from those that have been rejected. An NPS of 50+ is considered excellent.
